DESCRIPTION:In celebration of National Marine Week\, we will be hosting an Exhibition Action Day to showcase the talent and creativity of Sustainable Schools Eco Clubs! \nThe day would involve an environmental educational aspect focused around the Marine & Coast theme\, which would be followed by the learners performing/ showcasing their art to the group. \nWe will be partnering with ocean-themed organisations to join us in the environmental education component\, and to be part of our panel of judges. \nWhat will learners learn:  A fun\, interactive lesson on the importance of oceans in our ecosystems on land. \nFor your marine-themed artwork\, the following types of media can be submitted: \n\nShort film (maximum 3 minutes)\nSculpture\nPainting/drawing\nPoem (maximum 1 minute)\nPerformance (maximum 3 minutes)\nPhotography\nDigital art\, e.g.\, TikToks\, Reels\, etc.\, (Maximum 30 seconds)\nFashion design using recycled materials\nSong (maximum 3 minutes)\n\nBe sure to dazzle the judges by using recycled/ upcycled materials! The Grootboschkloof Granite Fynbos Circle with Peninsula Granite Fynbos [PGF] plants is located at the Grootboschkloof Walk greenbelt in Constantia Hills. Recently created is the Doordrift Wetland Circle with Cape Lowland Freshwater Wetland [CLFW] species in the Doordrift Walk\, Plumstead. In Newlands is the Papenboom Forest Circle full of Southern Afrotemperate Forest [SAF] understorey plants. Participants can assist with: \n\nPlanting of fynbos plants\nWeeding and garden maintenance\nPropagation of additional plants\n\nThese planting days will take place at various schools in the Cape Town area\, and participants will plant alongside learners from the school. \nUpcoming Dates: \n\nTuesday\, 8 November 2022 – Alicedale Primary School (Athlone)\nTuesday\, 15 November 2022 – Highlands Primary School (Mitchells Plain)\n\nHow much does it cost? This is a free volunteering opportunity \nHow long is a plant day? Plant days run from 09:00 – 12:00 \nIs transport provided? No\, unfortunately\, volunteers will be responsible for their own transport to the school. \nWhat should I bring?: Water\, a snack\, sunscreen\, a hat\, clothes that can get dirty and a face mask.
