#GiveHerACrown is a female empowerment platform that exists to change the narrative for women in South Africa, and the world. They do this through the power of storytelling and the arts.
They are inviting your school to participate in their #GiveThemACrown School Competition, an exciting initiative aimed at promoting gender equality and fostering creativity in classrooms across South Africa!
About the Competition
The #GiveThemACrown School Competition, in collaboration with the innovative art and creativity organisation Lalela, provides an incredible opportunity for your school to engage students in meaningful conversations about gender equality. This initiative not only empowers teachers with dynamic resources but also inspires students to explore their identities and celebrate diversity through the art of crown-making.

How to Participate
- Download the Schoolkit: Access the free #GiveThemACrown Schoolkit from giveheracrown.co.za/schoolkit-ghac.
- Engage Your Learners: Encourage your students to create their unique crowns and capture the creative process.
- Submit Your Entries: Share images of your students’ crown creations via email to hello@giveheracrown.co.za and on social media using the hashtag #giveheracrown.
Competition Timeline
The competition runs from Women’s Month in August until 5:00 pm on 30 September 2024.
#GiveThemACrown School Competition – Terms & Conditions
- Eligibility: Open to all primary and secondary schools in South Africa.
- Entry: Schools must register and download the Schoolkit from this link.
- Participation: Schools must create crowns with their students, submit photos via email, and share them on social media using the campaign hashtag and tagging #GiveHerACrown.
- Submission Deadline: All entries must be submitted by 30th September.
- Prize: One winning school will receive R10,000.
- Winner Selection: The winner will be selected based on creativity and engagement.
- Notification: The winning school will be notified via email by 15th October.
- Publicity: By entering, schools consent to the use of their submissions and school name in campaign publicity.
