Rationale / Mission

We envision our school being a school of functioning recycling by getting all learners to recycle plastic, paper, glass and cans at school, as well as bringing these items from home to recycle at school.

We currently only collect recyclable materials at school and I take it to a nearby drop-off/ recycling depo (tad bit unsustainable!). This is problematic as many students do not have the proper education in order to recycle.

Target 1
Collect recycling material from home and school and have it picked up to be recycled.
Eliminate all single-use plastic items in our school community.
Have recycling bins around both school campuses so as to make recycling easy.
Have students understand the three R's of Reduce, Re-use and Recycle and why they are so important.
Have games and competitions to help create love and passion for recycling.

Have our annual Science expo more aligned to green energy or recycling somehow… This is planned for Term 4. We also just introduced Robotics as a subject, so maybe a corroboration of Robotics and sustainability could be something great.

Plan out how to use energy and recycling in a way to be able to use it to create things like toys and experiments. |
