Western Cape Marine and Coastal Educators Network Conference

May 25 @ 8:30 am - 1:00 pm

We are delighted to invite you to the Western Cape’s 2024 Regional Marine and Coastal Educators Network (MCEN) Conference, which will take place from 08h00 – 13h00 on Saturday, 25 May 2024, at the Two Oceans Aquarium.

The event is hosted by the South African Network for Coastal and Oceanic Research (SANCOR) in partnership with the Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation, the Centre for Conservation Education and the Save Our Seas Foundation Shark Education Centre (SOSFSEC).

The conference theme is “Ocean Inspiration – A Call to Action.”

This event includes a keynote address from a well-renowned marine biologist who now is part of a father-son duo communicating science in the digital space, as well as stories from change-makers and locals involved in marine conservation. Towards the end of the conference, there will be a chance to learn more about the turtle rehabilitation and wildlife management conducted by the Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation, as well as a networking opportunity for teachers and organisations.

There is the option to join us in person or virtually, with live streaming available.

The event aims to connect teachers with organisations and changemakers that may be able to offer schools inspiration, support, outings, and resources. We hope you will take this opportunity to expand, enrich, and strengthen your network by attending.
