Plastic drinking straws, balloons, plastic bags, chips packets, cling wrap, and many more single-use plastics are harmful to marine life. Many animals such as birds, turtles, dolphins, and whales choke on or are entrapped by plastic every year. Rather encourage the use of reusable materials such as stainless steel straws and fabric shopping bags. Now more than ever we have to focus on reducing the waste that we create rather than just trying to recycle it or throw it in a bin, hoping that our waste causes no further harm to the environment and the health of future generations. You can also take the ocean pledge, where you can promise to make a difference.
