Environmentally-Empowered Citizens – Grade 10-11

Activity Introduction

This lesson introduces the concept of environmentally-empowered citizenship and explores the impact of a linear economy on the environment, inviting learners to discover how shifting to a circular economy can help reduce waste and promote sustainability. By the end of this session, learners will not only understand the foundational concepts of being an environmentally-empowered citizen but also gain practical insights into how everyday choices contribute to a more sustainable future.

Grade: 10-11

Resources Required: Printed Learner Worksheets. Internet access to access resource links and download the PowerPoint slides. Ideally a projector and connection is required to display the PowerPoint.

Key Concepts & Skills: Responsible citizenship, leadership, and the impact of personal decisions on the broader community.

Extra Notes: The lessons works well as a follow-on from the lesson Supporting the SDGs, also for Grades 10-11.
