Exploring the Life of a River – Grade 8-10

Activity Introduction

In this lesson learners explore how rivers change from source to sea using the example of South Africa’s largest river – the Orange River. Using Google Earth satellite images, learners identify the different stages of the Orange River and answer related questions.

Grade: 8-10

Resources Required: Google Earth images (printed or displayed on a screen), Lesson Plan, Learner Worksheets + Memo, Internet access (optional) to show introductory videos.

Duration: 1 hour
