How to grow a bean seedling – Grade 1-5

Activity Introduction

Learners will have an opportunity to get their hands dirty by planting beans and observing how they grow into plants. Follow the step by step instructions to learn how to successfully grow beans.

Grade: 1-5

Resources Required: Activity Plan (downloadable below) • Paper cups or the bottom half of a plastic bottle (with holes poked in the bottom for drainage) • Stationery (pen, marker) • Cardboard to rest the cups or bottles on • Potting soil • Dry kidney or lima beans (these must first be soaked overnight) • Water • Tape • Plastic wrap (optional)
