Making Molecules – Grade 8-10

Activity Introduction

Help learners understand how global warming is causing the earth’s temperature to rise, by building the molecules involved using sweets.

Grade: 8-10

Resources Required: Toothpicks, 5 different coloured sweets (marshmallows and jellytots or jubjubs/fruit jubes work best)

Key Concepts & Skills: Teamwork, Critical thinking, Problem-solving, Curiosity, Planning, Perseverance, Innovation, Adaptability

Duration: 1 hour

Level of teacher facilitation: Moderate
