    Are you Water Wise? Do you know what it means to be Water Wise? If you do, are you living a Water Wise lifestyle at school and home?

    South Africa is a dry country and many of our rivers are polluted with waste. All life on Earth needs water to survive, and we need to love and care for water.

    The educational service is aligned to the school curriculum, and the United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

    Water Wise Programmes in Johannesburg

    Tertiary and External Stakeholder Programmes:

    Rand Water’s Water Wise Education Team (WWET) offers an education service to
    organisations at external venues to assist them with a variety of Water Wise
    programmes. During the programme all attendees, stakeholders and facilitators must
    comply with governmental health regulations.

    Water Purification Presentation

    A 1.5 hour programme that includes a presentation that covers water as a natural resource; its importance in social and economic development; the challenges to water supply; and how water can be conserved. The following content will be covered: the river catchments of the Vaal Dam (Rand Water’s source of water); how is tap water cleaned; how is clean water distributed; and an analysis of water
    consumption and water conservation tips.

    Educator Workshops

    Various curriculum aligned materials have been developed by
    the Water Wise Education Team. Invite the team to “unpack”
    how to use these materials in a classroom context to support
    education for sustainable development.

    Special Requests

    Organisations may request the services of the Water Wise
    Education Team for special events such as Water Awareness
    and Clean-up Campaigns and Career Exhibitions.

    Water Wise Programmes in Vereeniging/Vanderbijlpark

    Foundation Phase Programmes

    Rand Water’s Water Wise Education Team (WWET) offers an education service to schools to assist them with a variety of Water Wise programmes that are aligned to the school curriculum. The WWETs, based in Vereeniging, offer the following Foundation Phase programmes at schools. During the programme all learners, teachers and facilitators must comply with governmental health regulations.

    Manzi’s Water Wise Roadshow

    Manzi’s Water Wise Roadshow is a 30 minute presentation on the
    Six Meanings of being Water Wise. If your school is having
    challenges with sanitation problems (for instance in the bathrooms)
    or if the learners need to learn proper hand washing techniques,
    these can be incorporated into the programme upon request.

    Puppet Show and Manzi’s Water Wise Roadshow

    A fun 1 hour programme that includes a puppet show and a visit from
    Manzi. You can choose from a variety of puppet shows including:
    ‘A Bucket! You must be Joking’; ‘The Treasure Hunt’; and
    ‘Healthy Living, Healthy Habits’. The programme is concluded with Manzi’s Water Wise Roadshow.

    The Water Wise Adventure

    An exciting 1 hour programme which includes a story about where Manzi comes from and the Six Meanings of being Water Wise.
