1. Water Conservation through use of borehole water and Jojo tanks. Grade 2-7 toilets are on borehole or Jojo tank water. To continue using this infrastructure and spread awareness to learners on the benefits of this. All Water conservation in Life skills lessons – grd 1-7 Water usage grd 4 curriculum – Social Science
2. Walk for water Learners to bring grey water from home and walk around the school – to symbolise how many people in our country have to walk long distances for water. The water is then recycled in the gardens. The aim of this is to make learners more aware of their water usage. AllEntire school will take part in term 4 Entire school will take part in term 4

Educate learners on biodiversity and indigenous plants through the gardens Maintain gardens with the eco-club, identify alien vegetation and remove. (Highlighted during Biological Diversity Day All Indigenous gardens are used as a reference in teaching themes throughout the grades.
Plant Indigenous tree for Arbour day Grow the indigenous gardens as well as educate learners. Learners to research which trees would be a good option – in the process learning about invasive species. All
3. Fundraiser for Mitchall Park Kitties. Aim is to raise funds to neuter feral cats in a community park – learners will be educated on how feral cats pose a great risk to local bird biodiversity and how we need to control the population. All Arbor week (1-7th September), International Day for Biodiversity (22nd May)

1. The school has installed solar panels in February 2025 Reduce the consumption of municipal electricity and move to cleaner forms of energy All Energy sources – grade 4-7 NS (reference to solar panels and the difference it has made in the school)
2. Create posters on learners ecological footprint and how to reduce energy consumption. To create awareness in learners for their personal energy consumption. Done around Earth Day to highlight the theme ‘Our Power, Our Planet’ Earth Day – April 22nd 2025 Solar Appreciation Day – Discuss the addition of the solar panels and how they are beneficial with learners.

1. Recycling of paper in each classroom. Mpact paper bins to continue to be used to recycle paper. White paper is collected for a company called Eazi Waste – paper bins are placed in each classroom. To reduce waste and encourage recycling in the community All
2. Cardboard collection Cardboard is collected in a cardboard shelter and community members who collect cardboard for income can collect this. All
3. Glass Co collection – a glass bank has been established and will continue to be used.
4. School projects encourage the use of recycled materials only. Reduce consumption of learners and encourage reuse of waste materials. Done in projects throughout the school. e.g. technology projects in grade 7 can only be constructed with recycle materials.

1. Bread tags for wheel chairs Continue to collect bread tags and bottle tops to support the initiative which allows recycling of these small plastic items and raises money for wheelchairs. All
2. Cloths to good Participate in the clothes for good programme that reduces waste and recycles old clothes. All
3. Fundraiser for Mitchell Park Kitties Fundraise for cat neutering to help maintain biodiversity in one of Durban’s community parks. All
4. Re-establish our currently-non-functioning educational food garden Upskill learners, teaching them how to begin growing their own food on a small scale All
