Western Cape Highlight: Parkwood Primary putting their Green-Fingers Award into Action
In June, Parkwood Primary School brought their environmental vision to life by putting their Green-Fingers Award Stodels voucher to excellent use. With the funds, the school purchased a variety of trees and plants to enhance their grounds and involve learners in meaningful, hands-on environmental learning.
Learners helped plant several trees, including avocado and banana trees, as well as succulents and other greenery, creating a vibrant and educational outdoor space. The planting day was supported by a group of passionate individuals committed to sustainable gardening—including a Permaculturist and a team of dedicated volunteers—who shared their time and expertise with the school.
This collaborative effort not only improved the school’s natural environment but also gave learners the opportunity to engage with sustainability in a practical way.
