The iNaturalist City Nature Challenge (https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/city-nature-challenge-southern-africa-2023) is coming up on the 28th April-1st May!

This fun challenge encourages all those in Southern Africa to practice being active citizen scientists by recording as many organisms seen as possible during the upcoming long weekend, on the iNaturalist app.

There is a joint effort this year to promote all the Southern African cities that have entered, to try and raise the profile of our biodiversity as a region and country. If you are going to one of the participating areas over this time, please do make an effort to participate while you are there. Of course, Capetonians would still like Cape Town to retain the top spot in South Africa, so all Capetonians are encouraged to try and participate in the CCT effort too, and help to identify for the week following the challenge dates.

There are 5 “cities” in the Western Cape, and many other across the Southern African region:

P.S. For all those working within the Biodiversity Network Focus Area- this is a great action project opportunity!
