HIKING THE PEOPLES TRAIL
Our Conservation Leadership Programme (CLP) learners tackled the two-day People’s Trail Hike in May. This 15 km hike through the Table Mountain National Park begins at Constantia Nek and ends at the bottom of Platteklip Gorge. The group was made up of 15 CLP learners, two CTEET educators and was led by a SANParks guide.
Although the steep hike was tough in places, the learners said that the beauty of the fynbos and indigenous forest kept them going! The group spent the night at the People’s Trail Hut where the educators led activities focused on dealing with conflict and bullying, followed by an exciting night walk to the old cable car route with a beautiful view of the lights of Camps Bay.
