Intern Induction 2019

Intern Induction 2019

Last Friday, a group of 13 Zoology and Environmental Management Graduates joined our Graduate Internship Programme for the year 2019/2020. The welcome and induction day was held at Table Bay Nature Reserve. The purpose of the induction is to welcome our Interns to the family and get to know them before they get placed at various City of Cape Town Nature Reserves. Our CEO, Dr Anthony Roberts warmly welcomed the interns and unpacked who CTEET is and what this opportunity means for the graduates. It was inspiring to have Bongani Mnisi from City of Cape Town Biodiversity Management Branch join us for the morning and address the group. He told the interns to give their uttermost best and not only do as they are told by their managers but to go the extra mile and prove themselves valuable. He highlighted a success story about a former Intern, Reward Nzuza, who now is a Site Manager at Zoarvlei Section of Table Bay Nature Reserve due to his hard work and impressing his Managers. This programme is funded by CATHSSETA and their representative Nomvumeko Senti reminded the Interns that it is important that they work hard on this programme, and prove that they are worth the opportunity as they build their careers. New Intern, Aiqilah Semaar, hopes to gain valuable practical experience within the conservation field and she believes that this internship serves as a foot in the door. Somthunzi Hlasi believes that the opportunity granted to her will improve her knowledge and experience in the field. We welcome all of our new Interns and look forward to working with these upcoming environmentalists. Written by Wanda Tshangela
